usMIMA was awarded a €50.000 grant from EIT Health, which is one of the largest healthcare initiatives worldwide, to help them turn their innovative medical device MOWOOT, a non-pharmacological, non-invasive solution to chronic constipation, into a commercially viable business.
usMIMA was one of the 12 projects selected for the EIT Health Spain Head Start and Proof of Concept Programme 2016 funded with a total amount of 350.000€. The usMIMA team went to London on December 15 to the delivery of the prize.
EIT Health promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in healthy living and active ageing, with the aim to improve quality of life and healthcare across Europe. It forms part of the even bigger network of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, an independent EU body.
EIT Health is leveraging the expertise of more than 130 leading organisations spanning key areas of healthcare such as Pharma, MedTech, Research Institutions and Universities. With a budget of 2 billion EUR over the next decade, EIT Health will purposefully invest in Europe’s best entrepreneurial talents and creative minds to foster the development and commercialisation of smart products and service solutions in the health sector, addressing the challenges imposed by demographic change and ageing societies.
MOWOOT´s €50.000 “head-start” grant will be dedicated to further development of the device and thus prepare the international market entry in 2017.
